We started the day with a trip to The Cliffs of Moher.  When I last stood at the top of the cliff all I could see was my shoes.   The wind and rain were awful.  Our umbrella turned inside out and we got drenched.  This time it was remarkably different.  Windy yes, visibility Ok -- a little hazy but we could sure see the ocean below.  After taking scads of photos we headed to Ashford Castle.

A beautiful day -- a bit windy but what do expect 400 feet above the ocean?

Rich and Chuck --

What army/navy would ever try to scale these cliffs?

Let's see, should I order a pint of Guinness?

Pub entertainment is a great way to spend the after dinner hours.

Time for another glass of wine?

How about a Manhattan?

We passed many of these structures.  They housed early warning sentries.

In County Connemara the land owned was outlined with rocks in the 1600s.  In medieval times, acreage was not defined.  Perhaps 6 to 10 families would farm one large plot of ground.  In time they found some worked harder while others loafed.  Soon the Republican Party was borne!

Once we headed north the land was nearly flat.

A typical lighthouse.

Connemara has many flat rocky areas.  Nothing but scrub grasses exist here.

I lost count of the number of old, decaying buildings we passed that resembled this one .

Sheep farming was predominant in this county

We had an excellent room.  This is the first of the castles we stayed in.  Care to guess when it was built?

Chuck is also an avid photographer.

Best friends we'll always be!

It was overcast, windy but dry!

Now that is a "D"andy idea.  Maybe Di will put one of these in our circle!
