We love Charleston. It is such a Southern town. The accents are deep south. The restoration of homes built eons ago is nearly complete. Charleston escaped the ravage of the civil war. The folks here refer to it as the "Northern Aggression" rather than civil war. If you ever get there, you must take a ride in a surrey. The driver speaks non-stop about the history of the Old Town. At the entrance of the old market, basket weavers display their work.
Near the Battery the old homes are all three stories and restored in perfect condition.
One of the oldest churches can be seen from everywhere because of the steeple.
These hand made baskets are made from Low Country grasses.
The smaller ones cost $75 and large ones may hit the $200 mark!
