Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos is 9 nautical miles form Delos.  The bay is crescent shaped and Mykonos is often called "The jewel of the Aegean Sea."  We never left the town.  At one time this was a central trading point for early merchants.  All of the buildings are white washed with red roofs.  Only churches may have domes and are then permitted to be red or blue.  We walked through the Archaeological Museum.  Frankly, after being through other islands this was less than impressive.  The streets are narrow, shops of all kinds cater to the vacationer or tourist.

A beautiful bay protected from the winds attract vacationers.

Many churches are located on the same plot of ground as a home, both owned and maintained by one person.

Only churches have red or Blue domes.  Services in personal churches are performed on very special days.

Your entry way may be painted a color other than white.

Few homes have a porch as lovely as this.

Cost = $6,000 @ square meter for a condo/home.  Statue in the town circle

Hillside construction gives all a wonderful view of the bay.

Interesting flag!

15th century AD

Notice how they have pieced this urn together.  The light colored clay has been inserted to complete the urn.

Some of the pottery and sculpture date back to 100 BC.

The large vessel heading east is a ferry boat that connects the many Greek islands

Their pelicans are sure different than ours!
