Diane had never been to Paris. I thought it would be better to break the 13 1/2 hour flight home into segments. After the cruise was over we flew to Paris and cut 4 1/2 hours off the flight from Istanbul to Atlanta. My 1983 visit to Paris was not pleasant. I felt unwanted, avoided and frankly the Parisians were down right rude. Not this time! We were stopped by a pedestrian who actually smiled, spoke good English and asked if she could help! Every restaurant was cordial. They asked if we spoke English and then sent over the waiter that could communicate with us -- some in rather broken English but at least they made us feel warm and fuzzy! The weather in Paris was cold and windy, I hardly saw my shadow. We bundled up with layers of shirts, sweaters and wind breakers. Although we did walk most of the way we did get on the "Big Red Bus" that took us around on a huge loop of downtown Paris. French like to protest! Air France went on strike the day Will and Jane were to head to Seattle. They wound up taking a train to London and had 2 day delay before heading home.
