Russia - Last day Our last excursion was a trip on the underground train. In fact the Russian underground is touted as the best in the world. It damn sure is the deepest! The escalators seemed straight up and down. Cameras were prohibited so you will have to take my word for it. The Russians are a hurried group. They nearly run from area to area. We took the first train 2 stops, got off and got on another. Our tour guide was in a panic explaining how important it was for us all to make it on to the car together. If we got lost it would be God awful. Di and I had an uneasy feeling the whole time we were in Russia so we were a bit nervous. We got on and off the first train without a problem. Getting on the next one was something else. Folks got off the train and took to much time. Our group was being polite. But when the doors started to close i shoved 3 folks into the car and just barely made it myself! Our trip ended at a farmers market. Russia is no exception, the countries all seem to shop for fresh veggies at local markets. 30 rubles @ $1. There were a lot of buildings like this. They have tons of restoration going on but more left to renovate. Locals selling their veggies on a street corner This is a formal Market Looked pretty good but we were warned not to eat anything with out washing it thoroughly They butcher the hole cow here! Anybody for a pigs head? Cargo comes in and goes out all day long. I saw this view from a city street and thought they were erecting buildings. NOT! These unload and load the ships. Hello Helsinki!!
