Montana country side, fires from Idaho and western Montana caused the haze.
Peaceful
River in Yellowstone
Plenty of water here
Valley in Yellowstone
The haze was present the entire trip. Fires are still blazing in Idaho and Montana. It is rare to have fire this early in the season. Global warming is credited for part of the problem since there has been a drought for 9 years. The snow fall is light and when it melts by April, lightning will cause a fire.
The red rock was ever present
Valleys and mountains made up the trip from Yellowstone to Butte.
On our way from Butte to Big Hole Fishing Lodge the same scenery prevailed. Call it prairie or dessert!
We didn't have a permit!
Off we go into the wild blue yonder!
Not many animals can survive on this sparse terrain.
We missed seeing lots of blue sky unless the wind blew the smoke in another direction.
Streams were clear, water cold!
