County Sligo/Donegal Bay

This was a wet day.  Rain in the AM, walked from the bus to lunch in rain and it rained all the way to Harvey's Point.  Our room was tremendous.  Not only was it the largest but the facilities were like none other!  We had a delightful dinner.  It started at 6:30 and ended at 10 PM.  We attended a live performance with singers, Irish dancers, jokesters and plenty of Irish melodies.  We partied until midnight.

The terrain changes all the time.  Now we have plenty of cows and horses and crop farms.  We are in the north west.

One of our stops included remains of an ancient civilization.  This is still being explored.  It has many features similar to Stonehenge.

How did they get those large rocks on top of one another?  Could this be a burial ground?

Fields were plentiful for grazing animals.

We missed staying in this castle

William B. and George Yeats (pronounced Georgie) grave.  Many graves are constructed this way with cinders or pebbles inside the rectangle.  They do this to reduce the maintenance issues.  There is nothing to mow!

Inside the church in the cemetery.

The most common grave marker is a Celtic Cross.
