We had a long ride to Zermott. The weather started to turn to rain by late in the day. This is hands down better, bigger, more activity than Gstaad. We took a cog railway to the top of the mountain. The train ride was worth the entire visit to Zermott. Little did we know we would pick a day with snow and clouds that would prevent us from seeing much further than 100 meters. Mother Nature must be closely related to the Golf God -- fickle as all get out. Who would have guessed we wouldn't be able to see the Matterhorn. But it reminded me of a trip to Denali to see Mt. McKinley in Alaska. We got "clouded in" there too. But you can beat Mother Nature using the Internet!
We were close to 10,000 feet at the top of the ski slopes and the Matterhorn is another 8,000 feet higher! So here is what we would have seen. Much thanks to Fabio Consani!
Me and one of my pals! She gives milk and they make cheese as a by product. We stopped a Gruyere for a taste of cheese.
Di was frustrated and took this painting incase we didn't get a real look at the Matterhorn
Time to relax at the summit, it stayed cloudy and snowy for 3 days -- and we were out of there!
What a great smile Di! Switzerland has cows like Ocala has horses and Germany has bears!

The Swiss have many of these bins on hill sides for storage of hay. The modern harvesting equipment not only bales the hay it also wraps it in plastic. The bins are not necessary for the modern farmer. Yet the hill sides are spotted with the bins. Notice the mushroom like object that is under the middle and four corners. These are built that way to keep their version of rats from getting at the hay!

Howdy!
Ed was the first to ascent!
Don't take my picture!

We were in the train in the clouds!
You have to have quite an imagination to see a brief outline of the Matterhorn.
On a curvy track looking over the side was scary!
Di has taken in a new pet!
I don't think the barrel of whisky is big enough! The St. Bernard would have it gone with one lick!

Now that is down hill!
Modern way to get cement to the building site!
That is our engine ahead
Notice the cog track in the middle. The train has gears that fit into the spaces for traction.
